How long have you been in business?
Citizen Power began operations in 1997.
What is your primary product or service?
We are a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to protect consumer and environmental interests by influencing public policy through research, education, and legal advocacy. We concentrate our efforts throughout Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. We disseminate information in an understandable format through the media and by providing direct educational services. We participate in regulatory and legal proceedings at both the state and national level related to energy and health care issues. A primary focus of our work seeks to help low income consumers.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Citizen Power grew out of the volunteer work and interest in environmental public policy of our founding CEO, David P. Hughes
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are the only are non profit organization that offers free middle school and high school teacher training in the arena of renewable energy and energy efficiency. We are also the only other local nonprofit devoted to protecting the interests of consumers in regards to the electricity generating industry. Citizen Power is also the home of the Green Energy Collaborative a partnership that makes a fixed rate, 100% wind electricity product available to consumers.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location in Pittsburgh, PA.

We are located at 2121 Murray Avenue in the Squirrel Hill business district. We are on the second floor above the restaurant, Curry on Murray.
